Buffer?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, when talking to one of the police chiefs in my disrtict, he let me see their dept's Thompson. It's a sweet Colt 1921Serial #3065. They claim it's "not shooting right". I have'nt been able to shoot it yet, but it appears to be ok. Does a 21 have the same type of buffer system a 1928 does?

GIJIVE, They say it hangs up about every tenth round. It looked pretty dry. I'm gonna give it a good cleaning in oiling.

Here is a 1921 buffer set.

PK's is a new design, and probably much better (for the gun).

Nice pictures Chris, very well done. You have a pretty good knack for photography.

Greg,

Thompsons like oil, that's why they have the oiler pads in the 1921/28 Models. Clean it and oil it and see how it functions. If it still hangs up on box magazines, maybe the magazine feed lips and/or the magazine spring is possibly at fault.

Cleaning and oiling might tell you what needs to be fixed. Worn springs in the receiver and grip frame also should be addressed.
