youngblood1989
Looking for an early BAR buttplate with trap door and shoulder rest. Any out there?
emmagee1917
I don't have one , but are you looking for the M1918A1 buttplate with the full length forged shoulder rest or the 1st version M1918A2 buttplate with the shorter stamped shoulder rest ? They both have the trapdoor of the M1918 version .Chris
youngblood1989
Good question! I guess it would be the 1918a2 variant, looking to recreate a modified 1918a2.
emmagee1917
Well then : A 1918A2 modified from a 1918 ?Or a 1918A2 modified from a 1918A1 which was modified from a 1918 ?The former would need the short plate , the latter might still wear the long plate style .Unless an expert chimes in to correct me , I think either could be considered correct in this case . Money was tight between wars , so I don't think they would throw away a perfectly good A1 plate for no reason .I think either one you find would be good .Chris
youngblood1989
Thats definitely a good point. Honestly Im having enough trouble finding the plate with the short rest, Im sure the other is nearly impossible to find.
