bmarvin
I am going to sell my 1907 .351 Winchester with an original Books hardcase, 3 mags (2-10 1-5) and a couple boxes of .351 ammo.I'm stumped on the value and I don't remember what I paid for it. Nice 07's bring $700-$1000. 10 round mags are $150-$200 and ammo is $100/box. That puts me at the $1200-$1500 range. What value does a Books hardcase add? I would think $500 but that's just a WAG.ThanksBrian
jim c 351
I think your guess is pretty accurate. Most of the 1907 rifles on gunbroker are junk and they want $500.00, so if you have a nice one it should bring over $700.00.There have been 2 10rd mags on GB for $200.00 for quite a while and haven't sold. $125.00 to $150.00 for quick sale.$100.00 on the ammo is OK.Lastly, the Books case. You are the only one I know of who has such a case. Who knows it may be worth more than the gun. Maybe you should sell the case separately on GB and let the buyer decide value. My gun is 1950's so the case probably wouldn't be correct for my 07.Best of luck.Jim C
bmarvin
Thanks Jim. OCM
Homer Van Meter, you could be correct.....Van Meters was # 46190 BTW. Don't think it was a Lebman full conversion. We are actually researching that and a new Thompson ( Tommy Carroll's) as we speak. Damn, I thought you bought the set up. And the winner is ........................................? I wonder who else owns a Books case. Why don't you post some pic over on the vintage semi auto board and see if any one over there has such a case.http://vintagesemiautorifle.proboards.com/Jim C

ron_brock
Sandy, Do you recall if there is there any reference to these cases in Henwood's book? - Ron
OCM
Ron, Jim asked me the same, a year ago or so- I don't think so, but let me double- double check. Extremely rare item !! looks like your 07 is very early 1948, BTW. Only 449 made that year (s)to 1949. Double checked this morning, nothing on a Books Case. Has a couple pages on cases, but mostly take down cases. I'm surprised, has everything in the world on the guns but not the Books case ?
