One of the cach of 111 discovered and shown on page 64 of Tracie Hills book. You were able to own them before they changed their gun laws but I don't know what the current situation is there now.I will find out and let you know. I have received over 20 e-mails in the last hour. The Colt is definitely for sale and the price is US Dollars 10,500.00 pus shipping insurance etc. The gun is legally registered here in New Zealand. I do not need a permit or licence to export it but who ever buys it will need the documents appropriate to their country and laws. I can simply pack it up and "fedex" it. All I am required to do here is notify my local Arms officer (NZ Police) within 30 days that it has been exported. The gun is a genuine "Irish Sword" The numbers have been struck off exactly as shown in the book. It was in service in the IRA and has "battle scars" appropriate to service but is in very good working condition with about 90% original blue. Wood work has a few dings and scratches but Remember it was buried with 110 others for 20 years. Have a look at the 1921 "Irish Sword" on page 54 & 55 of Tracie Hill's book and thats what you would get. I will e-mail photos to those who want them. Kind wishes Murray. colt21a Posted May 8, 2004 Report Share Posted May 8, 2004 anything full auto entering the u.s now...is a post dealer sample fella's......................you have to be a class three dealer or manufacture..........and have it imported with proper form 6....................with the L.E.letter for demo..... fairly pricey for a post sample to say the least......... so before you all start thinking wow i can get it from murray cheap..........he has a nice gun.but those are the u.s.rules to abide by............otherwise i could have gotten alot of thompsons that are out there. they are all post sample's.......and if you are not a dealer don't waste your time,at best a colt parts kit is what you can have,and the receiver in three piece's............ so if you are a class three with a letter for a colt 21a DEMO. {go for it} also remember upon giving up license...... you can't keep the gun.must sell or abandon...............so lets not get all excited here...... take care,ron Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am not at all optimistic that it will be sold outside New Zealand, but I thought I should offer you all the chance "Just in case" Arthur. You cannot own Thompsons or any machine guns in Australia.I just checked up. Tasmania was the only state where they were legal but I understand that has now changed. So for around $4,500 more one could have an Irish Sword PARTS KIT in the good ol USA, with a real history. I dunno with some of the prices being thrown about ya never know. Too bad we can bring it here, whole. I think it could be purchased by a legit government sponsored museum, if one were able to find enough funds to donate. colt21a Posted May 8, 2004 Report Share Posted May 8, 2004 i'd rather it be in my safe,wink!! but i don't hoard thompson's anymore.........there always should be one left for somebody that really wants and need's one......... i know of dealers and collectors who have ten and more.......they should sell them keep one or two.........and let the rest of the thompson less collectors get one.....but wait that would make sense of it all.........they still make money.............and spread a little cheer to the less fortunate......... however that is not in the grand scheme of things how it work's................well i tried........take care,ron p.s.you can't get ten people together on this board to agree to most anything..........so i had to laugh about getting something together to buy that gun for a museum......nice thought.and gesture.....it will never happen. deep down inside everybody still has a little thompson greed.................sad but true........ There are four 1921 Thompsons all from the East side shipment to Ireland in 1921 and never photographed before other than the Garda photo of 1942. Bit of history there boyoh's. As per my earlier post, it possibly is an unique photo of four "Irish Swords" all Brothers in Arms. Serial numbers are , from front to back, 708, 586,389 & 993. Note the "first 1000" Aut-ord-Co bullet logo on the top of the receivers. I did a close up of that but Lion Heart could not get it to post.
