I understand the problems with getting it into the USA at this time, but, this problem could change in the future. I thought someone might like to make an investment for the future or some one in another country might like it , but it is for sale.

Kind wishes.

Arthur,

I don't know about Australia. You were able to own them before they changed their gun laws but I don't know what the current situation is there now.I will find out and let you know.

I have received over 20 e-mails in the last hour.

The Colt is definitely for sale and the price is US Dollars 10,500.00 pus shipping insurance etc.

The gun is legally registered here in New Zealand. I do not need a permit or licence to export it but who ever buys it will need the documents appropriate to their country and laws.

I can simply pack it up and "fedex" it. All I am required to do here is notify my local Arms officer (NZ Police) within 30 days that it has been exported.

The gun is a genuine "Irish Sword" The numbers have been struck off exactly as shown in the book. It was in service in the IRA and has "battle scars" appropriate to service but is in very good working condition with about 90% original blue. Wood work has a few dings and scratches but Remember it was buried with 110 others for 20 years. Have a look at the 1921 "Irish Sword" on page 54 & 55 of Tracie Hill's book and thats what you would get.

I will e-mail photos to those who want them.

Kind wishes

Murray.

anything full auto entering the u.s now...is a post dealer sample fella's......................you have to be a class three dealer or manufacture..........and have it imported with proper form 6....................with the L.E.letter for demo.....

fairly pricey for a post sample to say the least.........

so before you all start thinking wow i can get it from murray cheap..........he has a nice gun.but those are the u.s.rules to abide by............otherwise i could have gotten alot of thompsons that are out there.

they are all post sample's.......and if you are not a dealer don't waste your time,at best a colt parts kit is what you can have, and the receiver in three piece's............

so if you are a class three with a letter for a colt 21a DEMO. {go for it} also remember upon giving up license...... you can't keep the gun.must sell or abandon...............so lets not get all excited here...... take care, ron

Ron,

Your correct of course and I was well aware of the rules before I offered it but there are some countries still where they can be owned.

I am not at all optimistic that it will be sold outside New Zealand, but I thought I should offer you all the chance "Just in case"

Arthur. You cannot own Thompsons or any machine guns in Australia.I just checked up. Tasmania was the only state where they were legal but I understand that has now changed.

M

murray i just don't want you to get ripped on price.....its very fair for a piece...of irish history........as you know with a red haired irish lass for a wife.

i would love to own that 21a...........but in new zealand it will stay.{until you sell it to somebody>>>>>>>..}

good luck in the sale.............oil it down well.and send me a pic when you get the chance............a pic is worth a million's tale's.................take care, ron

We're off to Dublin in the Green, in the Green,

Where the helmets glisten in the sun,

Where the bayonets flash and the rifles crash,

To the echo of a Thompson Gun

Let's see did not some 21/28 parts kit go for $6,000 or near that back in February?

So for around $4,500 more one could have an Irish Sword PARTS KIT in the good ol USA, with a real history.

I dunno with some of the prices being thrown about ya never know.

Too bad we can bring it here, whole.

I think it could be purchased by a legit government sponsored museum, if one were able to find enough funds to donate.

We could take a collection! yeah right

I'd rather it be in the NRA museum.

i'd rather it be in my safe, wink!! but i don't hoard thompson's anymore.........there always should be one left for somebody that really wants and need's one.........

i know of dealers and collectors who have ten and more.......they should sell them keep one or two.........and let the rest of the thompson less collectors get one.....but wait that would make sense of it all.........they still make money.............and spread a little cheer to the less fortunate.........

however that is not in the grand scheme of things how it work's................well i tried........take care, ron

p.s.you can't get ten people together on this board to agree to most anything..........so i had to laugh about getting something together to buy that gun for a museum......nice thought.and gesture.....it will never happen.

deep down inside everybody still has a little thompson greed.................sad but true........

YOU really did not seriously believe I truly thought we could get donations for that.

I guess I should have put a wink or something after that line, "We could take a collection".

I will edit that now.

i saw the hidden wink!! you don't have to repost it..wink!!

i guess some on this board are still in training mode for my post's............that is why i happily delete them lately.not one person should be privvy to so much thompson info, that the mind boggle's............

so i will post snippets here and there, and not offend anyone.........i would never want them to get the colt thompson shorts in a bind!!

i hope someday they all get 30 plus years under their belt of doing this stuff.........and see how well adjusted they will be.............scary thought.............

Thank you Lion Heart for posting the photos.

In fact I did not realise the significance of the photo until I saw it posted.

There are four 1921 Thompsons all from the East side shipment to Ireland in 1921 and never photographed before other than the Garda photo of 1942.

Bit of history there boyoh's.

Guys,

You are welcome to use the photos on your sites.

As per my earlier post, it possibly is an unique photo of four "Irish Swords" all Brothers in Arms.

Serial numbers are , from front to back, 708, 586,389 & 993.

Note the "first 1000" Aut-ord-Co bullet logo on the top of the receivers.

I did a close up of that but Lion Heart could not get it to post.

I just wish I could bring them to the show in August but I might get "Hit" for excess baggage. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Kind wishes

Murray.
