Very clear WW2 photo of M1928 Thompson

I know there are many similar photos but I have not seen this one before. I don't

think its been posted here - if so and I missed it I apologize. To me this picture is

noteworthy because it very cleary shows the front swivel, the compensator, the

the fins on the barrel, and what appears to be a flat finish on the receiver.

The title with the photo says: Corporal, East Surrey Regiment 1940".

He's wearing the "obsolete" Pattern '08 web gear. With that web gear, how would he carry Thompson ammo? And he's wearing his gas mask bag backwards -- the flap should be towards the body. And finally, the straps of his gear are being worn under the epaulets of the jacket -- which would prevent the gear from being taken off easily. (These are little details you learn as a reenactor.)
