Colt #8171 "The Golden Gun" For Sale

Recommended Posts

I purchased this Colt in 2013, and have enjoyed displaying it several times. I have decided to offer it to a new "Caretaker" along with some of the display pictures and signs. It was custom engraved and gold inlaid per Warren Kreiser's direction, by Jeff Flannery back in the 80's and comes with the detailed documentation of this.

It has not been fired to knowledge since the restoration and the finish is flawless. Regardless of the "Flashy" look, it is a 1921A, and is properly registered as such. It could be used as a shooter if one so desired, but the displayed history is very unique. Originally sold to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Mount Vernon , Illinois.

There are old posts with pictures and info that can be found using the search option. Just enter "8171"

Can transfer E-File on form 3. Please PM me with any questions or further info.

This may be a great deal for a buyer that really wants a Colt's for a shooter but can't quite go into the 30K plus price range. Priced in the 20's with a well respected negotiable seller; this is one to take a look at!

I guess years ago Warren Kreiser thought he was doing the

right thing. I guess he could be excused somewhat because back

in the 80's guns were not worth anywhere near what they are now.

But sadly, he just ruined the gun. How badly he ruined it is being

reflected in the fact that it won't sell. Ok, some people think it's

beautiful - obviously Warren did - but I think it just looks like hell.

All that's missing is a pink Cadillac.

It's not ruined, it's just really really ugly. If it were sand blasted, parkerized, inlays filled with bondo, then cerakoted it black it would look darn near original from arms length and probably sell close to the asking price.

I think the main issue with almost all potential buyers right now is no one wants to buy anything until the virus is sorted out. Once this gets past us a little, I think NFA prices will rise as some folks will look for things that aren't as impacted as the 401ks etc. I'll bet alot of us would have bought this gun yesterday, had the bottom not fallen out of the Market. I would sit on it for awhile if you can.

Cheers,

Steve

Beautiful, just beautiful. And a bargain at that price.

Again.... beautiful and a bargain.

De gustibus non est disputandum. In matters of opinion, debate is pointless, there is no accounting for taste.
