IBM/AO Carbine Parts

Recommended Posts

A week ago I bought an IBM/AO carbine #3,905,088 on GB.com.

I sent payment but haven't received carbine yet.

I would like opinions on what parts this gun would have had originally.

Rear site,--"L" type or Adj type

Barrel band,--type 1 or type 2

Bolt,---flat or round,--- blued or parked.

Slide,---type 3 or type 4.

Stock,--High wood or low wood.

What was the date of manufacture.

Gun comes with a dark blue "L" site stamped IN B and installed backwards.

I guess its a repro. How can I tell??

Thanks;

Jim C

SR,

Very nice. You get an attaboy for that link.

If David reads this perhaps he will post the link in the pinned section.

And thanks to all who took the time to comment.

Jim,

Based on your request, I just created a new topic of useful Carbine links that is now pinned at the top of the forum.

Thanks!

David,

Thanks. I think its a very useful group of links and should prove helpful when someone buys a new carbine.

Back in the good old days, 1976 to 1985 , I owned and traded over100 carbines. I had 3 IBM/AOs.

In 1987 I sold most of them to open a gun shop.

In 2006 I bought a 1928A1 made by Auto Ordnance and since that time I have been thinking about buying a carbine made by the same factory.

So,- on 1/19/19 I bought another IBM/AO. It appears to be a total mismatch. I will try to partially restore it.

I down loaded a data sheet off of the carbine club for IBM/AO #3,906,xxx and compared it to the info I received when I used the link provided above by

Strange Ranger for my IMB/AO #3,905,088. Practically identical.

Thanks again,

Jim C
