REISINGSTAR
I got my M3 parts kit from IMA today. It is much better than I expected! All parts, including the sear, and small pins, and springs are present. The receiver is in three pieces, but the mag well is intact. The receiver is restorable for a C2 project. I am going to redo mine in the same fashion as the semi-auto sten kit, with a smaller diameter tube liner, modification of the bolt to use a separate firing pin/striker so that it will shoot from a closed bolt, and the trigger internals from a sten parts kit so I can have a disconnector. In other words,I will be be following the BATFE letter that comes with the semi-auto sten kit. the hardest part will be turning down the bolt and drilling it for a moveable firing pin.Should be a good project. REISINGSTAR
Question for you legal guys: If I leave off the collapsable stock, can I retain the 10" bbl. and build it as a pistol,or do I have to put a permanent 16"bbl extension or file a Form 1 for a short bbl. rifle before building?? slowfinger
Reisingstar, Just wondering? Are you going to make up a custom liner for your grease gun or is there a tube on the market that could be used for your purpose. And about how thick would it be......You guys got me interested in a kit now! Probably go up in futer becuase it's american parts! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Slowfinger
renovate7
Reisingstar at the Creek Valkyre Arms had a semi auto grease gun pistol for sale. They just left the stock in the closed position and welded it there.
moparnascar
I have also bought a parts set. What would be the correct procedure for building a dummy gun? Legally. Bill
REISINGSTAR
Bill, The BATFE requires that you build a semi-automatic version of a machine gun that cannot be readily converted to full auto fire. The items mentioned in the letter approving the semi-auto sten design were as follows: 1.must fire from a closed bolt. 2.receiver must be of a smaller or larger diameter, such that the full auto bolt cannot be replaced into the gun. 3.must have a moveable firing pin that is struck by a hammer separate from the bolt.(i.e. no fixed firing pins on the bolt face) 4.the barrel must be 16" or longer. I own a Valkyrie Arms reproduction M3A1,and may use the bolt and hammer from it.The folks at Valkrie have not been easy to get ahold of lately, but it might be possible to order a bolt/hammer from them and save alot of labor. GOOD LUCK! REISINGSTAR http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
