OK before everyone thinks I've lost my mind, I want to stress that I DO NOT want to weld a pic rail to the top of the gun or anything else that would be permeate and hurt the guns value. Anyone have any ideas for a rigid mount that could be installed and then taken back off so there wouldn't be any modifications to the receiver itself?

Nothing that looks nice , but I see two options . One is a wrap around mount that bolts to the ( replaceable spare ) cocking handle housing ( really more for a M3A1 ) . The 2nd would be a rail mounted on a tube welded to the barrel nut of a spare barrel , kind of like a free float AR handguard set up or a M3 suppressor .

Well I'm not sure if they were definitely modified, or to what extent, but I remember seeing a video with Larry Vickers, and he said they(he) did use the M3 in special ops.

Looking forward to pictures!

How do you get 8 magazines in the pouch ?????????????????? I can get 7 ,but can not get 8. I looked at your picture and followed the mag inserting and still can't get 8 . I can get four across the bottom and three across thr top but thats it. Can you help? I'm pretty sure the pouch's are the same size. Thanks Jeff
