DZelenka
Manson was arrested in 1969. It is unlikely that the gun was registered by him; and it couldn't be registered by whoever took possession of it. It is probably lost to history. azboater
The guns of Helter Skelter on the Manson Blog link: http://www.mansonblog.com/2015/12/the-guns-of-helter-skelter.html During the raid on Spahn's Movie Ranch on August 16, 1969 authorities recovered the infamous "submachine gun in its violin case" pictured in the book Helter Skelter. This weapon a Maschinenpistole (MP)-40, was discovered during the raid along with several long guns in a room that has been described as a "gun room" but was actually just the room that Danny DeCarlo was temporarily residing in with his guns. colt21a
Thanks for that good info, and the picture. Probably sitting in some retired sheriffs closet right now. Seems with such a high profile case I am sure it was never destroyed. And someone grabbed it up as a keeper.Or lost in the shuffle. Colt21a RonMaybe at the time of the crime it was just considered "Another Murder Case" and Evidence was not so carefully logged, seems hard to believe that if this had happened today in the Social media firestorm it would generate ANY shred of evidence, let alone a firearm would just "Walk off"
