Ron Mills
Looks more like a scabbard for a Winchester 94 carbine with room for lunch or a 6-pack on the bottom!
p51
QUOTE (PhilOhio @ Apr 23 2005, 09:17 AM) No horse alive would sit still for long if you tried to cut loose with a Thompson while sitting on its back...or even close by. Not true! I was at a WW1 re-enactment many years ago, and a guy had an Australian "Lighthorsemen" uniform, complete with horse and repro saddlery. He said his horse was totally gun-trained, and a smart-alek "German" haded him his MP-18 and offered him a twenty if he could empty the clip over the horse's head without falling off. He did. The horse barely flinched. We were impressed. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif And yes, the "German" paid up! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Hawkeye_Joe
Lots of horses are "gun-trained" now that "Cowboy Action" has become a big deal.. also there are Horse ear-plugs available to help with the problem of gun-spooked horses....I think I could fire off of my horse's back .. but not right over his head.. He's been in a lot of battles and the gunfire doesn't bother him but next to his head probably would.
