28A1 Fixed Sight

Recommended Posts

I bought a 28A1 AO parts kit a few weeks back, and while cleaning and wiping down the receiver, I noticed the up bent leg of the site was bent slightly to the left about 3 or so degrees. It did not look like the site leg got banged to the the left, it looked like it was made that way. I dug thru my tsmg parts and found another stamped rear site with the same bent look to the left, about 3 degrees. Do any of the Thompson Guru's here know the reason for this? Sorry, I can't provide any pics.

For sighting in. You can find them slightly bent in all different directions. Since the front sight doesn't move the only way to adjust is to bend the rear sight to zero, or at least get it closer.

And, these guns will shoot high at 25 yards if the original factory targeting is intact. Bending the rear sight forwards or backwards will lower the point of impact, which some people prefer to do for range work.
