bmarvin
I won a Handy Gun at the last auction and there's sales tax now added in to the total.I don't now how long they have been doing it but it's the first time I've noticed it on my invoiceJust something else that needs to be considered when deciding what something is worth when you bid

The Rock Island website lists the states they collect sales tax for, and for example, Tennessee is not one of them. https://www.rockislandauction.com/faq/do-i-pay-taxes-on-the-lot
Paladin601
It passed the Supreme Court in 2018. Expect more states to start collecting
mattnh
Interesting - looks like a "MarketPlace facilitator" in IL uses destination-based sales tax rulerather than the state's origin-based rule - didn't know that... Thanks for the correction. I live in NH (which has no sales tax) and occasionally run into companies that try to charge me sales taxwhen they shouldn't (e.g. company in a destination-based state selling me stuff in NH should not charge sales taxwhere a company in an origin-based state still would).
