Frank Iannamico
I watched Marine Raiders on TCM last night, made in 1944, an early production Reising SMG appeared in several scenes being carried and fired! Mag looks too long in length (?)
StrangeRanger
I was watching the rerun of The Pacific on the History Channel and the Guadalcanal sequences had a mix of Reisings and drum-fed '28s. By the time of Cape Gloucester the Reisings had disappeared and M1s had replaced the '28s. The production armorers were clearly paying attention

Mr.O'Brien was a classmate of my grandfather as well as Spencer Tracy back in Milwaukee about the time of the 1st World War. A truly wonderful guy and a fine actor. I did like following the change in armament as the series moved through time. They did a far better than average job.
Frank Iannamico
When Marine Raiders was made in 1944, the US was involved in WWII, it was probably hard for Hollywood to get weapons for use in movies.
