Joseph_T
Was lucky enough to find another thompson savage grip!! this one seems an earlier savage model?or just another producer? its a little different from the other savage grip i had, this one have a much "sharper" contours, huge shame for the small cracks!! but damn.. those thompson grips looks so good! http://i66.tinypic.com/2cnxjbn.jpghttp://i63.tinypic.com/258tspl.jpghttp://i68.tinypic.com/kcnhts.jpg
gijive
Joseph T, Is it marked in the grip mount channel with an "S"? If not, it may be an original Remington/Colt grip.
Joseph_T
"unfortunately" marked with the s in the channel!!apart the fact that colt grips were unmarked, based on my hi quality laser scan of both grips (colt and savage) there are remarkable differences on the design, maybe they both started from the same wood cut, but at savage they must have been sanding the grip contours a little more (check laser scan picture) You can spot the difference of front, tail, and finger grooves, also colt grips (in my opinion) had more beautiful sharpen edges. http://i65.tinypic.com/14x09lj.jpghttp://i65.tinypic.com/2r42xio.jpghttp://i63.tinypic.com/21e3mo5.jpg Edited January 3, 2017 by Joseph_T

huggytree
so far the 4 ive seen in the past 10+ months look exactly like yours...all have cracks/repairs, all have the english swivel and most have a 2nd set of holes....im lucky enough not to have the extra set of holes on mine, but mine looks like a dog chewed it almost....yours is the nicest one ive seen so far....congrats
jim c 351
Joe,The laser scan pics are very impressive. But since the grip received hand sanding could it be said that no two grips, whether Colt or Savage, are exactly alike??Jim C
Joseph_T
Yes i think so,every grip is unique, they can be similar, but never the same. some more picture from that nice 100 million poligons laser scan http://i67.tinypic.com/2upaals.jpghttp://i67.tinypic.com/taod28.jpghttp://i63.tinypic.com/ehmcrp.jpghttp://i63.tinypic.com/2ef2fc4.jpghttp://i66.tinypic.com/xdul95.jpg
