Question On Selling The 27a1.

Recommended Posts

Zamm is going to send me a couple uncut recoil springs for my 27a1, now is that a nice guy or what. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif Once I install them I'm hoping that it'll run right. At that point I'd like to sell it and buy an Uzi now that we can have folding stocks on them again. Question is, would it be better to put the gun back totally stock to sell it and sell off the replacement parts or should I sell it with them installed and throw in the stock parts with the gun? Do you think enough people would be interested in the parts that I fixed up this gun with to warrent selling them separate from the gun or not? Here's the parts that I've installed on the 27a1.

M1 style Horizontal forearm w/sling swivel

Modified mag catch to use unmodified FA mags

Paddle safety

round 28 style cocking knob

Rear pistol grip(better contour)

M1 rear sight

All total I've got about $325 in parts plus 5 new 30 round FA mags that I've got $150 into. So what do ya'll think, would it be better to sell the above parts separate from the gun or sell it all together?

http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif This is the Thompson board, isn't it. 54 looks and not one reply, come on guys. Someone has to know if it'd be better to sell of the fixer upper parts and the gun stock or the gun with the parts. If anyone would be interested in the parts shoot me an e-mail or if you'd like the stock 27a1 or even all of it shoot me an e-mail, we can talk. I'd really like to get that semi autp Uzi with a folding stock, talk to me people. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif

Difficult question. Gun is worth about $750-$850. I think you might have trouble selling your mags for $30.00 each unless they are almost perfectly new.

Selling individual parts can be quite a lot of work, and some might sell well and some might not.

I'd suggest putting everything as a package deal on one of the gun auctions sites, with the minimum bid set at the minimum amount you would be willing to accept and see if the package sells for at least that amount. If not, then you could consider separate auctions.

Thank you for the reply Catnipman. The mags are brand spankin' new, I've only used one and that hasn't been very much. I got them from Northridge, they were sealed in wax, real pain to unpackage, LOL. So you think a package deal would be the best way to go, I guess that makes sence, that way I don't get stuck with parts for a gun that I won't own. If I could get $950 out of the whole deal that'd give me enough to pick up an Uzi and some mags and ammo. First I want to get it working correctly, don't want to sell someone a gun that doesn't work right. Unless someone would be willing to buy it with the understanding that it's not quite right. I'd rather just get it working right though. Talk to ya'll later.

I think you should get the gun working well before you sell it, as I think you would get a much better price for a working gun than a non-working gun. I had two 27a1's that I sold a while back and both needed work before they would run well enough to sell.

$950.00 would be a very good price for the buyer for everything you describe. I certainly wouldn't sell all of that for less, but it's probably an attractive price to get bidding started.

Be sure to post plenty of good-quality pictures, and be sure to write appealing text describing quality, condition, and the work you've done to make the gun work great. I think good pictures and good text greatly help in receiving the best price.

I went a head and put the gun back stock, that way I can sell it for less if someone just wants the gun OR if someone already has a 27a1 I can sell the parts they need to fix the guy they have up. I'll post a pic of the parts along with a price list at a later date plus I'll post a pic of the 27a1 too. I'm hoping that the new recoil springs wil get it working, if not I may have to sell at a slight discount to someone willing to spend the time to get it running right. I really think it's something minor, just a small rough spot or a burr that's stoping it from coming all the way into battery. Oh wall, talk to ya'll later. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Try either http://www.gunbroker.com or http://www.auctionarms.com It will most likely sell up there at your opening price of $950.00 I have owned numerous UZI's like you mentioned (.45 Carbines, Model A and B's, Mini's, Pistols, Ect) and just ordered a Vector Arms version built on an IMI Receiver. Hell can't beat $620.00 shipped, plus FFL Transfer at $20.00 Though I'm keeping this one in 9MM. Good luck Frank. You may want to try http://www.sturmgewehr.com too.
