Question About Shooting A Tommy

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm in Canada and there's no snowball's chance in hell for me ever acquiring one here.(Had to have a full auto license since 1977).

Now if ever i could visit someone say who has a tommy in the U.S. and has the right to own one.Would i be permitted and able to say fire it in say the woods or a firing range accompanied by that said owner?

Just curious and hoping one of you will take pity on me and let me fire one off if i'm ever in the U.S.

Dan?Phil? Colt21a(Ron)?

PLEEAASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I'm planning to be in Itasca Illinois Sept.10,11,12, 2004

At the gangster convention any offers to let me shoot a 50rd drum?(I'll pay for the cartridges)!

My mom always told me if you do not ask you do not get.

From what I have read, yes you can shoot one as long as you are in the company of the legal owner of the Thompson.

Thank-you Hawkeye http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif i appreciate the answer.

Best regards,

Mario

If you are into Thompson's like I think you are into Thompson's, then you should and must visit us at the TCA meeting at the NRA museum this August. I'll let you fire my 1928 WH and my WWII M1. Plus you can check out the others there including that old dreaded thing they call the pony gun, or Colt to some. If your ever in Indiana, say for that race that pops around every May called the Indianapolis 500, let me know and I can take you out shooting. We even let people from the Nort' come to the range. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Chitown: If you are ever coming to central Ohio (40 miles east of Columbus) drop me an e-mail and bring some ammo.

Hawksnest is that a promise? Not right now but man if you can make that happen i'll gladly pay for the ammo.Of course we'd have to buy it there.

Chitown: Didn't you think it was odd or just a coincidence that the information about the varmit Thompson was released on April 1?

Oh okay i got it! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

Phil i really thought that was legit you have to admit the way the cartridges were made man that looked "f"in good.I'm sort of disappointed tho.Looked really revolutionary.Does that mean alot of info is not legit here?

PhilOhio, were you at the creek with that Thompson with a scope on it? I saw a Thompson someone had rigged a scope onto, sitting up against a rack. Didn't see who had it I just happened to see it in among the others there.

The scope was mounted in the lyman site. I wish I had waited for somebody to come by, I could have shot pictures of it. Looked like a small shotgun scope on it. The miniguns were calling and I had to get there!

My WH 28 has an Aimpoint Comp ML2 (which uses only one scope ring) on 1/2 of a Doug R., Thompson scope base. The rivet holes were tapped to allow use of screws and two other holes where drilled and tapped to allow fitting the scope as low and as far forward as possable. I have a custom stock that is about 2 inches shorter and the comb is about 1 1/2 higher than factory. The setup is very fast and accurate to use. Kevin Edited by Kevin

Mario:

No 50-round drum shooting around Itasca! Or anywhere else in Illinois, for that matter. Better off going to Indiana or Ohio, where the other gents have suggested.

Where in Itasca is this convention, by the way?

Chitowngangster...Take Hawksnest up on his offer...Trust me...you will never forget it! His guns run like raped apes. I was fortunate enough to take him up on his offer at the last TCA show and shoot and Erika and I had a great time together with him. Thanks Larry for your mercy! Mike (Full Auto 45) was kind enough to shoot the video on my home page with Hawksnest's 28. An excellent invitation with some very good company in my opinion. Would love to go on but have a screaming baby on my hands.

Best of luck,

Damon

Chitown: The offer will be good next year. If you really want to be blown away. plan on coming to the Thompson Collectors Association show and shoot in August 2005 (If it is held in central Ohio). You will need to be a TCA member and also preregistered. Bring your period clothing, equipment and a video camera and create a video to show your friends. I have a friend who is going to loan me pretty boy floyd's death mask for display purposes. It is the real deal and once belonged to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Speaking of renting a Thompson, I did at a range near home. Here's a breakdown: Range fee $15.00 + rental $35.00 + two magazines $16.00. The grin on my face = PRICELESS !!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
