SgtMartin
More of the parade - http://www.zg76.com/reiben/IM0060.jpg D-Day..... We awoke at 03.45am and got changed into our field kit. We set off to Omaha and got through the security (by our passes) - Security was VERY tight. We got to Omaha beach and was there at 06.30am. Alot of people were there including photographers and film crews. One of the Veterens a couple of days before said to Chris that we all must get our feet wet on Omaha on the 6th so we did.... http://www.zg76.com/reiben/CIMG0324.jpg

SgtMartin
Me after a staged capture of a church in longville (sp?) http://www.zg76.com/reiben/DSC02936.jpg We re-walked an 8km patrol that the 29th and Rangers did on June 8th 1944 with Dales Normandy 44 and the French Rangers. Villagers all came out of their houses to watch us and cheers us (and kiss us!), they then threw a street party. We were the first people who had done that since 1944. http://www.zg76.com/reiben/DSC02943.jpg http://www.zg76.com/reiben/DSC02938.jpg http://www.zg76.com/reiben/IM0025.jpg im on the left - http://www.zg76.com/reiben/IM0035.jpg

full auto 45
Very nice indeed. Only wish I could have been there. Did you run into anybody special? Anybody from say Band of Bros., the real ones, or anything like that? I know old Wild Bill Guarnere(sp) was going to be there along with Major Winter. 85th Engineer
Great stuff! I'm gonna show them to my Dad this evening when I visit. He's a WWII vet and will get a kick out of those pics. He got to ride in a WWII tank last summer in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. His 80 yr old smile was ear to ear. Then he got a ride in a German halftrack. It was funny when he told the fellas dressed in German uniforms that "the last time I was this close to fellas in uniforms like that, I'd just captured them and was holding a gun on em." Dad and I plan on visiting Italy and France in the fall of '05. We're gonna revisit the sights where he dodged German 88 artillary. Also next March I've booked a trip to land on Iwo Jima for the 60th anniversary. Looking forward to that one! My Uncle and I are making that trip. We plan to wear WWII Marine Corp field jackets with the name of another Uncle who was kIA on Iwo stenciled on the back. We're also gonna place a small plaque in his honor on the Island. Thanks again for the D-Day pics.
