MP-40 vs. 28 Navy vs. M16A1

Recommended Posts

I fired my Erb tube gun for the first time the past weekend. In FA I preferred (1) Colt Thompson, (2) MP-40, (3) M16A1. In SA, (1) M16A1, (2) Thompson, (3) MP-40 (was able to get single rounds off).

When I first pulled the trigger on the MP-40 I could barely tell it was actually firing! For the 28 Navy I used the new Taiwan L-Drum... worked perfectly although it was a bit fiddly installing; bolt back, mag release depressed. I figured it out.

Take aways: Erb tube gun is a really good shooter; a nearly century-old piece of American history won the day!

With the correct buffer, spring and compensator i guarantee your m16 will move to #2 on your FA list

Factory setup the m16 is Blah. With the right aftermarket parts and your m16 will have little to no muzzle rise

Mp40? Its my #2. My stg 76 Brp is #1. Mp40 is a great gun.

Yes, it was the muzzle rise on the M16 that put it last for FA. Nothing like the BAR or HK G3 but still significant. But, as I said, tops for SA and I was really impressed with that.

Tubbs flat spring- smooth it out
308 hydrolytic buffer - this will slow it down 100-150rpm
Seekins compensator - nearly eliminate muzzle rise
Geissele trigger- turn it into a target gun

Ive always felt compensators were snake oil. I was shocked how good the Seekins works. I can easily dump 30 rounds and hold a target w control at 15-20 yards

does your m16 shoot like mine? notice the speed and the muzzle rise(none)

Nice video HuggyTree.

My choices would be:

1. C&R Bridgeport Thompson Model 1928AC (it's heavier and smooth as silk).

2. C&R WWII STEN (light and controllable and a blast to shoot).

3. C&R Beretta 38/42 (about the same as my MP40 BNZ 41 but I give it the edge because it's selective fire (two triggers) and also has the advantage of a fixed wooden stock (although my MP40 stock is very solid) and 40 round magazines.

4. C&R MP40 BNZ 41.
