Arsenal Found In Staten Island Home

Recommended Posts

I certainly don't condone the bomb thing, but I can't believe that 13 guns in a NY home is either an "arsenal" or national news. Any thoughts?

NEW YORK (CNN) -- New York City police have uncovered an arsenal of weapons, ammunition and home-made bombs in a raid on a Staten Island home, a police spokeswoman said.

According to Officer Jannara Everleth, the NYPD Drug Enforcement Task Force on Wednesday entered the single-family home and discovered the stash of munitions, including seven homemade bombs, 10,000 rounds of ammunition and 13 guns.

Police closed off a four-block area and evacuated homes surrounding the house as a precaution while the bomb squad removed the weaponry, Everleth said.

Police arrested Albert Boshi, 40, and Anna Dicamillo, 39, described as his common-law wife. They also removed the couple's 3-year-old son from the house. Both Boshi and Dicamillo are charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

As I understand it, new York’s infamous “Sullivan law” (passed around the turn or the century?) banning firearms was a political move to give the authorities something to hang on you if they wanted you- every one had a gun.

Little has changed- a can of gasoline, a piece of string, a box of matches and an empty milk carton can be considered a “bomb” if they want to get you. Who knows what the case truly is here, but it certainly gives you pause to consider.

It wasn’t to long ago that the congress was presented with a law by one of the CA sisters that would have officially named a collection of more than 5 guns and 1000 rds of ammo (I think?) an “arsenal” and would have required a permit.

Yes Phil, McCain, Arlen Specter, and (insert name here) many other Republicans are fence-sitters, or RINO's (Republicans in name only)! Perhaps quisling would be an appropriate epithet. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Regards, Walter

1000 rounds is an arsenal????? What???

Every time I get a urge to take my kid and shoot .22s, we easily go through a brick or two.

My 71 yr old mother has cases of .22 ammo (eley tenex, red box) for her competitive shooting. That is the cheapest way to get that stuff. Yes, she is still shooting!

Some idiots think this is an aresenal?

I think I know who the Ars is! This is going TOOOOOO far!

I agree Phil, If you have a M-80 with nails around it your asking for trouble! If you wrap that rascal with anything that projects out from the discharge, you are a asshole for trying. My hats off to any ATFE guys going into a unknown area unprotected. But why did the ATF go there in the first place? What was the main complaint? If this guy & gal were pissing off the neighbors, then they are just plain stupid for doing so. As are most criminals.

Yea, you guys are right. I hate hearing about those wackos. Everytime they come on the news, they give the anti-gunners one more piece of propaganda to throw back at the public. More importantly, we don't need any more nuts out there killing people.

Phil, that is indeed a sad and shocking event. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif The three broad categories of hazard involving explosives are stability, toxicity, and sensitivity. These are all affected (to varying degrees and relative to the type of explosive involved) by small changes in environmental/ experimental conditions. These factors affecting hazard in explosives include, but are not limited to: sparks, static electricity, shock, friction, and relative humidity. If anyone has the slightest doubts about the complexity of the hazards involved, please consult the following: Explosives Science by Raymond L Rogers and Joan L. I very strongly agree with you Colt21a!! In the event that anyone out there just doesn't know when to quit playing with explosives, this is what the BATFE, the state and local police, the lawyers, the paramedics, the doctors, the nurses, your family and you would have to deal with, eventually! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif The link below is to a site with links to photos, extremely gory photos, of the aftermath!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif This is not for those with weak stomachs! Bombs = No Good by anyones standards.

But being a resident of this glorious state we call New York, yes, anything over 1 gun can get the headline "arsenal" and the owner considered a "gun fanatic". Sad, but all too true.

Not to long ago someone was arrested for a un-related crime and when the house was searched, the "weapons" were laid out on a table and displayed on the evening news as an "arsenal". If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. Two 30-06 bolt action deer rifles, a 12 gauge over/under trap gun and 3 sporting pistols ( 2 revolvers and one semi 9 mm, which of course was reffered to as a "full automatic" pistol). Yes, this was a gun nut, throw away the key and all that.

What's the use...aggghhh!

Zamm--

NYC is like another world, to me. I was wondering how out of place a beat-up Ford pickup would look on the streets of NYC. I didn't see many of those when I visited some years ago. I would think it is a culture shock from the norms of place like my state of TN.

Sgt,

A beat up Ford pickup is not out of the norm, hell, no one will bother it! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

I drive a beat up 89 cherokee, no prob. If you drive around enough in the city, everything get's beat up!

As for all the BMW's and Mercedes/Lexus's, that stuff and the people are from another world anyway!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Sounds good. If I ever get a show there, we'll have to go museum hopping. As for the guns, guess I'd better leave them at home. I guess that's the world we live in.

From what I understand, this is what gun owners in jolly old England faced before they were forced to disarm themselves. Any person owning a firearm was shown in the news as mentally unstable, and more than one firearm was an arsenal, even if they were flintlocks. The issue of the explosives is outside this point. Having those devices in any state is just plain stupid, and the people need to face the music for having such peices in the house, especially with a child in the house.

As far as media's portraial of arsenals, I have seen these. Thay focus on the firearm they think is the most "assault weapon" like and try to say that is all that they had, even if all they had was four or five single shot 410 shotguns and a .22 pistol. The owner is then said to be a "right wing extreemist" with a possible connection to Timothy McVeigh or other "right wing" orginizations . We are all demonized because we like firearms.
