Bayrain
With a few custom made parts and a few fake looking things like a fake gas tube to slap under the barrel and some custom made wood, magazine guide etc, would a BAR hunting rifle turned Colt Monitor Clone be a good idea or just another cocktail napkin drawing? deerslayer
I've made monitor copies from semi auto Ohio ordnance BAR's. I would hunt deer with it if I didn't have to carry it very far. Be a great picture!
Bayrain
Ah I meant like the Browning BAR hunting rifle that's out there. I would love an OOW BAR but still too expensive. So I'm thinking of a budget project.
Oldtrooper
Just my opinion ... Napkin drawing. Let's say that all the parts that you mention could be fabricated ... You can't fabricate the receiver. By the time all those parts were made you basically would have a Frankengun, and the price of everything would probably be in the ballpark of an OOW semi-auto. StrangeRanger
The "sporting rifle" BAR shares almost nothing but the name with the military BAR. You'd be wasting time and money and coming up with nothing worth having
jl7422
Agree with the above opinions: "budget project" and "Monitor" don't go together. . . Edited November 20, 2021 by jl7422
