akviper
Pity my ignorance but I bought a repro M1A1 folder a few years ago . It seems well made but the stock does not have a way of locking in the open position. Were they held open by friction alone or am I missing a secret locking mechanism? Thanks for your time and trouble.
Ron Mills
Perhaps the fact that is a repro, the manufacturer could have elimated the locking/unlocking part. I thought it was a bottom push-up button device, similar to the side-push on the MP40 stock. You just want it to work right. Maybe call Dave at Sarco. He is the machinegun (and folding stocks too) guru there, and a nice guy.

Bob
No lock on the original, they will fold up on you. The detent is pretty weak and that is normal.
akviper
That's what I was afraid of. When tucking in hard to the shoulder it will collapse if not pulled perfectly straight back. Thanks for the info.
