Ingram M6 SMG Characteristics Survey - Your Data Needed

Recommended Posts

All,

This thread will serve to gather data on a few specific characteristics of Ingram Model 6 Submachine Guns in circulation today. If you are willing to supply this information, conclusions based on the data gathered might be used in future publications.

1. What is the serial number of your M6?

2. Does it have a commercial style rear sight, or does it have a protected rear sight?

Commercial rear sight:

http://www.sturmgewehr.com/dalbert/MGBoards/Commercialrearsight.JPG

Protected Rear Sight:

http://www.sturmgewehr.com/dalbert/MGBoards/Protectedrearsight.JPG

3. Are the bolt, trigger and cocking handles blued or unblued?

Example of unblued bolt and cocking handle:

http://www.sturmgewehr.com/dalbert/MGBoards/M6Bolt.JPG

The goal is to determine the serial number range where the protected rear sight began to appear, and when the 3 originally unblued parts began to be blued.

Thanks!

Dave,

I have an Ingram M6, as you know and my data is as follows:

1) Serial Number is 1244

2) Protected Rear Sight

3) Bolt, Trigger, and Cocking Handle are "Bllued"

I have a Police Model that sports a replacement barrel, and ended up with a front sight from a Remington M700 model rifle; currently being fixed with a Thompson M1A front sight! Glad you added the M6 Folder and I will try to add more data later on. Thanks, Lonnie Joe

I just bought one today

#1352

protected site

Bolt, trigger, etc appear to be blued

Brian

Brian,

Congratulations!!

I have #1352 on my M6 list. Can you confim that it is a Police style model with the vertical foregrip that is marked on the receiver as a Military model?

Brian,

I think you got the better of the two sets that Ruben had for sale.

I spoke to Ruben about them and decided to pass on them since both

had case issues and pitting issues. I probably screwed the pooch on that

one.

His lowered prices on them made them good deals indeed.

Good luck,

Darryl

He still has one left. In my opinion they both were better deals than the one that Steve had for sale

with the re-worked case for the same price.

I spoke to Ruben a couple of hours ago and have decided to pass on it.

With the economy on a down hill slide, I'm sure other just as sweet or sweeter deals will

surface.

Enjoy,

Darryl

So what was the pricing? I did not catch the thread where they were for sale

I just got 1326. Hooded rear sight, blued handle and bolt. Got a chance to shoot a few rounds thru it and it's a pretty nice gun IMO. I do like that trigger option. Thanks!

I bought s/n 1788 from R.J.(Bob) Perry in '86.

All blued, rear sight w/guards, selector switch.

"M-1

SCPD" in white paint stenciled on right side of

buttstock. This was the last one he had, it was

hanging on his office wall. Paid $600 w/3 mags.

Talked to a guy at Knob Creek years ago that bought

a group of M6s from an agency, out of 10 or so

only one had the commercial sight.

Hi,

Just had 3 come home to roost. All are police models.

1. S/N's 150, 153, 154
2. Commercial rear sight
3. Bright bolt, trigger, and cocking knob

Nice thing is I got paperwork back to the PD that owned each gun.
