M40scoutsniper
Good evening everyone. With Mr. Alberts permission. I have 2 1928 dummies and some accessories Im looking to sell. I found these at a gun show from a gentleman who was liquidating his collection due to his age and his kids hatred of firearms... I couldnt pass them up so I snagged em. Both of them are Savage and Stevens parts on an aluminum display receiver. Each one will come with 1 reproduction Kerr sling, an original oiler (one is missing the felt pad), and one 20 rnd magazine (as long as your place of residence allows them). There is a small crack in one of the compensators which has been circled in red in one of the photos. There is also a spare parts bag, and some M1A1 parts as well. Unfortunately, neither of these came with the internals. Im asking $2,750 for the pair or $1,500 individually. If anyone is interested in the spare parts bag, pouch, buffer, pilot rod, etc.. just shoot me an offer. These are on Gunbroker as well so if you see them disregard those prices as they do not reflect my asking price to forum members. Blued BAR magazines, and WW1/2 BAR parts/accessories are also considered currency to me haha. Thank you everyone for your time and have a great evening. Respectfully, Chris
Sandman1957
Chris the first Magazine in your photo has a plate over the holes that I have not seen before. Hang onto that until other folks have chimed in. That may be a very interesting magazine! Its the Patent Dated magazine. Autorotate
I have one just like the patent date except manufactured by Crosby Co. picked it up last fall at S.A.R. West show.
TD.
May I suggest you post a picture of the serial number area on the frames. Frames with unmolested original Savage Arms serial numbers are much more desirable than those whose original serial numbers have been removed or re-stamped. M40scoutsniper
Thank you for all the comments! Yeah the plate over the capacity sighting holes was a first for me. I have a bunch of 20rnders that have welds done over the holes. The ones that have the welds over them are patent date magazines and some auto ordnance marked ones. Autorotate, getting ready to send you a reply now.

TSMG28
I have not seen the strip approach to sealing up the witness holes as shown on the Auto-Ordnance marked XX mag. Is the strip soldered in place or attached some other way? Are there any stamps on the inside of the backstrap? I would like to get high quality pics of the mag for documentation purposes, or I am willing to work a swap for the mag with you or whoever purchases it. Thanks. M40scoutsniper
Hmmm the only markings I can see is the AO stamp on the front of the magazine. There are no markings on the rib or floor plate.
TSMG28
M40, Thanks for the pics! Do you have any idea what was used to attach the strip? It is hard to tell from the pics. Is the discoloration in the bluing? What I am looking for are stamps that were applied to the inside of the backstrap. You have to remove the floorplate and spring to inspect the inside. There may be no stamp, an MSCO, or USCO. There are three different versions of this mag, and the stamp or lack thereof help us place the timeframe of the mag. Thank you. M40scoutsniper
TSMG28, No problem boss. Took the magazine apart and it is marked MSC. There is no O after the first 3 letter stamps. I also dont see any material poking through the viewing windows. The finish looks like it was polished to bear metal and maybe soldered? The discoloring is in the bluing and not some sort of other substance. You are more than welcome to this magazine if you would like. Just PM me and we can work out the details👍🏼
TSMG28
M40, Thank you very much. Sometimes the stamping missed one of the letters. The MSCO makes this the first of the WWII A-O mags which were made by Mitchell Stamping Company of Philadelphia. The Maguire era Patent Date mags also had the MSCO stamp on the inside. Very interesting technique for closing up the witness holes.
