Its a reactivated DEWAT. Barrel nut and sling loop were damaged by welding, repaired and refinished. It is missing the sliding part of the safety handle and looks to me as if the shank of the cocking handle and the slider had been welded to the receiver with the bolt in battery using stainless rod. If not stainless, possibly at least the weld was removed and the repair remains in the white. Hard to tell what happened there.

Best the seller has ever seen, since it is probably the only one.

Any gun listed with Missouri as the state of the seller is Gepharts inventory. I suspect he bought Subguns so he could sell his own guns through that port.

Nothing wrong with the red forestocks, at least in the picture.

Other minor issues.

B.M. got it right Barrel nut and sling ring redone reblue and buffed for sure. Also finish not pleasant And red Bakelite is correct so is black and evena mix or red and black. and brown. with the saw dust chips Just like P-38 grips. If this is 23000 grand WOWSERS! who ever ends up with it won't be happy. unless it is the only one they ever owned and seen. As they will have nothing to compare it to. But maybe some old pic's in 'Smith's small arms of the world, I am sure Huggy will be more pleased with the one he popped on.

write a nice story about this mp40 being used by Hitlers body guards...being smuggled home in a body cavity!....

notice how every letter is always something dramatic...battle of the bulge....ive read about some on the Luger forum how many GI's made up big stories about the guns they brought home....none ever say they were walking through a field and found a dead german w/ a mp40....or some guys in a barn surrendered and they got a luger

fed ex says mine is here friday.....so you will soon see how it does for $11,750...ill be posting video's

OKAY it was the first battle of the Hurtegeon forest. Me and Stan just slid out of the frozen foxhole to take a well deserved leak.... it was a rough cold night the 88's had been pounding the upper positions, the Garands had jammed and when they worked the Germans could here that Ping sound when empty, Stan said that was strange since the 88's when exploding seemed much louder. And a Thompson bolt slamming home on a empty chamber seemed even less.

Well Stan just finished up and out from behind a tree steps two big Krauts the size of Tiger tanks yelling Heil Hiller sigged Heil and I know nothing, And do you speak Dutch? Well I opened fire first with a 45 auto darn Garand froze up or maybe it was just empty. Stan jumped out firing the 30 cal water cooled from the hip a 200 round belt he let rip. He shouted I hit nothing..... Hit the dirt. After a few minutes passed We got up and slumbered over to the two dead Krauts. Pieces of bone and flesh blown off into the treeline. one had his elbow gone another his leg and foot over his head and into his Helmet. O looked and wondered and Stan said oh his head is over there in the hole.

He said gimme another Belt we might be under attack. I reached down and saw what was to be named a scmeeser or MP-40 I guess. or maybe a MP-41, I told him quick get those ammo boxes break them up and pack these two away and address them to Aunt Mamie jerkwater Town u.s.a.[ And Label it "Don't open till I get home" he says well some body part was attached to one. I says who cares. by the time they get home it will have rotted off. These are bringback's... the best of the best. And yeah throw in those pouches and slings and that array of mags. And that long 8mm ammo laying in the snow also that will work..

Decades fly by Stan and his Buddy Hogan never made it back from the war.. Aunt Mamie is gone, And her daughter Snowflake and the Hubby Bubba JOHANSKI discover one day this crate in the attic. They bring it to the local dealer who cracks her open.. Finds a few old bones, Some paper and two beat to heck MP-40'S frozen shut from Rust.

He tells SnowFlake honey you got a box of junk, Here is $500 bucks for the trouble.

After they leave. He tells Buzz. WE struck Gold brother......we got here the real deal. And the paper even says Dear Aunt Mamie these are the bring backs, taken off what was left of two tiger tanks while ole Stan and me was taken a leak..

Oh yeah and send more beef Jerky.....

Ron...that was a great read !!! I will tell a REAL story now that my father told me. BTW he fought in the Hurtegeon forest battle but that has nothing to do with this story. My dad and his squad were clearing a farmhouse of germans. He came upon a big stack of hay near the barn. He fired off the remaining rounds from his M1 carbine into the hay. Out pops 3 german soldiers with their hands up...none of them hit!!. My dads gun is empty but one of his buddies covers them. One of the germans had a luger on him, he handed it over to my dad and that was it. No dead germans or wild shootouts ha ha

that luger was stole from your dad and smuggled in a body cavity back to the USA and is now mine...on its way to my gun dealer....i hope they cleaned it after they got it home...

good story above....i do not believe any of the stories/letters with the guns...people lie....always have.....having the GI posing with the gun is a cool thing though...that part i like....also the paperwork on the dewat....i think its all worth $0, but obviously people disagree with me and think that photo and letter is worth $5k
