10 round MP43/44 magazine

Recommended Posts

Never seen one for sale, but likely not an actual MP44 magazine (even though it fits). Most likely for VG-1 series. The gun I most regret not buying when given the opportunity several years back before I knew anything about them.

Actually from what i read the Vg-1 and G43 were designed using stg 44 mags cut down. The mags typically have no markings other than on the base plate because they cut off the section of the mag with the waffen marks. Either way it would nice to find one or two for sale. Edited by Petroleum 1

I have a VG-1 and it uses the G43 magazine. It appears a good bit different in the attach point/lugs from an MP-44 magazine, to me.

Thx that is good to know. I have seen pics of both and they look the same but you actually have one so the mags are different. I have seen photos of the sturm 43/44 with the 10 round mags they must be cut down 30s

It is worth mentioning that the G43 is chambered for the 7.92x57 round (as is the VG-1) while the MP44 is chambered for the 7.92x33 round. Not saying the magazines couldn't share a common lineage, but they definitely have different cartridge length dimensions.

Ah, a horse of a different color. Mine is the bolt action VG-1, or alternatively VG-1 1.

But, I would still be surprised if they made a separate, new 10 round magazine for the Vg-1 5. Hans-Dieter Handrich, in Sturmgewehr, states that the General of the Infantry denied a request from the field for a lower profile magazine (shortened by 10cm to achieve a lower silhouette when firing from the prone position.) He states the request was denied in the interest of maintaining production standardization. Handrich speaks often about the problems of production and supply of the 30 round magazines. It seems odd that they would have diverted production capacity to make a different design for for the VG series rifle.
