WTB Philadelphia Ordnance M1A1 BFONG

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon all,

I wanted to try here first before ordering new from Philly ordnance. Im looking for a used M1A1 BFONG manufactured by Philly ordnance. I have no preference to condition just as long as it cycles and works. I know its a long shot, but please let me know if anyone is considering selling one. Thank you all!

I wont! Haha yeah I realize that it is a long shot that anyone on here has one that they would let go but it is worth a try. I have had my eye on the m1928a1 BFONG Thompson from Philly because they look terrific and Ive heard nothing but good thing a from Philadelphia ordnance. Had a blank barre from him affixed to my semi and it runs great and everyone loves it at the re-enactments, however having the full auto BFONG would be much better

I have a Philly Ord M1A1 BFONG and it's beautifully made, fully up to original quality. It's no toy. It's obvious that no expense has been spared and no corners cut to make it as true to the originals as possible. I handed mine to a friend who really knows guns and it took him awhile to notice that it's not a firearm.

What ammo does it take, any .45 blanks?

Phila. Ord's blanks. The receiver is marked CALIBER .45 PHILA ORD BLANK. The blanks are made using new Starline brass. They are very loud and work perfectly in USGI mags. You can't see it, but the cartridge base is slightly smaller than on .45 ball ammo. BTW, there's no such thing as "standard" .45 blanks. They're all different.

I bought 600 rounds of Phila. Ord. blanks when I bought the gun. The price has not gone up in almost four years. Bob said it took longer to develop the blanks than it did the gun. Pics are of Phila. Ord. blanks, and my gun:

This is one of the best purchases I ever made. It offers all of the fun of a blank adapted M1A1 TSMG without any of the hassle, and without the wear and tear on a valuable original gun.

Hey guys - Some brief info and an update -

Regarding the blanks - when I designed the gun, I did everything I could think of to make

sure the blank gun was classified as a non-firearm. One of the things i did was to take a standard

.45 ACP blank case (Starline) and reduce the diameter of the rim slightly so that if, somehow,

someway, somebody was able to un-weld and un-pin the blank barrel and fit a .45 ACP barrel,

to the gun, the base of the case would not fit into the bolt face and the gun would not fire.

Now, of course from day one, everybody wanted to know why the gun would not take standard

blanks. Almost two years ago, I sent ATF a gun that would shoot standard blanks, waited ONE

YEAR for them to get back to me, and they classified the standard blank gun as a machine gun.

I am confident that I can make an approved standard blank design, but apparently the ATF is no

longer examining and ruling on things like this, and I was lucky I got a ruling at all in "only" one

year.

Trust me - I wish we could use standard blanks, its not a profit scheme, its the ATF. To modify the

rims is done by hand, one at a time in a speed lathe, which is still not very fast. For several years

the blanks were 50 cents each, then 53 cents each, and now thanks to 10+ cent primers and double

the cost of powder (thank goodness the brass has stayed the same) the current price of the blanks

is 67 cents each. When the price of primers and powder go down, the price of the blanks will go down.

I keep an list of interested buyers and when we complete guns I go down the list until the current

batch is sold. No deposit is required to be on the list.

Feel free to email me direct if you have any questions.
