Ah, Those Were The Days!

Recommended Posts

With all the drum talk, it was funny to be going through

some old papers and coming up with a mailing from

Auto Ord in West Hurley.

Thought evenyone would get a kick out of the prices.

I place it very early 90's.

I distinctly remember thinking I would save some money up and get both!

Time ticked away, and here we are... If we could only go back!

Here's a little fun photo that was in thier catalog

from the same mailing. If I'm not mistaken, they sure look

like Semi SBR's, although I don't recall them ever offering

that configuration.

Perhaps a bit of actual "cut and paste" in the darkroom ( this pre-dates Photoshop),

or an actual hybrid for in house fun?

Ha! I have those too. I never paid $140.00 in those days for "L" Drums. I think the most I spent on a new WH Drum was around $110.00, and around $275.00 for the "C" Drums when they were introduced..Nice matching Colt "L" Drums were less than $500.00..

Zamm,

Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

When I first became interested in Thompson's (semis) it was owned by Ira Trast, they sold at a suggested list of a little over 400. Look at them today.

But then too look at the oldies, and where their prices went!

I paid 860 in 2003 for my Kahr, before smithing fees. Still below list though, my local dealer is fair when it comes to new guns. To bad he's not a class III dealer.

I do enjoy the gun though, very much. LOL, its more accurate than my .17 HMR!

I'm quite a pack rat as well, I found some large S&W shop posters from when I held an FFL.

I bought a NIB WH drum from Numrich in the late 70's or early 80's for $99.95. Of course it fit way too tight. Sent it to Merle 20 years later and he made it right. Runs fine now. Also bought a Bridgeport drum around the same time from Sarco for $89.95. It always runs perfectly. Man how times have changed!!!

Oh well

Chopper 28,

Man, what deals! I remember going up to Sarco and buying some stuff for the semi. He had all kinds

of drums. Asked if I wanted a 50 round or 40 round. At the time I did not no anything about them,

so I asked which was cheaper. The rest my freinds, is history, like that 62 Chevy Impala convertable I sold in 73

for $150.00, and so on! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif
