Bonnie & Clyde Festival 2016

Recommended Posts

Just got my annual invitation to the " Authentic Bonnie & Clyde Festival 2016 " in Gibsland, Louisiana. They've had this going for many, many years. I've been to 3 of them in the past, lot of outlaw fun.

Date is May 20th and 21st in Gibsland. About a 3 hour run from Dallas. Still have a lot of friends that attend this.

I got a sweet picture I took of Marie Barrow, Clyde's little sis, holding up a 18 BAR. She said," how the hell did Clyde hold this thing up" . She was exactly the same size as Bonnie-

Anyway, if you go have fun.

Yeah, I got an invite a few years ago from a fellow armchair historian and 30's costuming friend (I think he used to be on here); he and his wife run the Public Enemies of 1934 website (https://publicenemiesof1934.shutterfly.com/) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Public-Enemies-of-1934-221308427883867/), or at least are members of the group.

Although I've never been, I plan on trying to make it out there on day, for the fun,

Rob

Hell yes Rob, you should. Jonathan Davis, the leader of the group " Public Enemies " is a long time old friend of mine, He introduced me to Marie Barrow, also co-wrote Jim Knight's book AND has his own book out now.

I've met a lot of these guys-

Fun time, go to the Historians meeting Friday night-

TELL JONATHAN YOU KNOW SANDY....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That will surprise him -In a good way.

You're a Louisiana boy ( or close), a must ! Just up the street from you. They might get you involved in the festival shoot-out, need extras.

I'm a north Florida boy, but it's not that far for me....been over to the Big Easy several times. As a matter of fact, he invited me to wear some of my 30's duds out there for the event, and be some "background" help; work schedule (and putting kids through college) being what it is, I haven't made it that far yet (i.e, spare $$$).

But when I'm finally able to go, I'll be sure to drop "name drop" you on Jonathan! :)

The Festival is still going, Boots is still around, landscapes keep changing, if you can, push it for a weekend-

You've got the set-up, I've seen your postings.

I have a lot of fun memories there.
