travisaasen
Good evening all! Complete newbie to Thompsons. I'm from Wisconsin and have my first SA West Hurley Thompson on the way. The serial number of this gun is less than 300. My FFL should have it Friday from the UPS man w/ 11 30rnd magazines. What can anyone tell me about this gun? Here is a pic from the seller: http://www.hunt101.com/img/206148.jpg http://www.hunt101.com/img/206151.jpg

Zamm
Travisaasen, Welcome aboad! That is a clean looking M1. Serial number indicates it's from the first year they produced the M1 semi at West Hurley, 1985. Should work just fine. This board is a great center for info, lot's of knowledgable folks here allways willing to lend a hand. One of the members was producing an extended horizontal foregrip to fit the semi's extended barrel. If you do a search, there is a photo. The effect was quite nice, giving more of a balance to the gun. Aside from that, if it shoots good your home free. Otherwise our resident Thompson wizard smith, PK will make it run like a clock. Best, Zamm

full auto 45
Being one of the first 1000 it should run fine. Mine was under 2000 and it ran fine. They are heavy and fun. If you take it to a range, you can pop off targets at 50 and 100 yards with ease. When I first got mine I was at a range and 2 guys with FA AK's were shooting at evil pumpkins at 100 yards and couldn't hit them. I took aim and popped all 3 just pop, pop, pop. They couldn't beleive it, they wanted to shoot my gun and had a ball. By the time the day was over, they liked my semi M1 so much I could have probably traded them for that old AK straight up and they would have taken it! travisaasen
According to the original owner this gun has had 2 mags dumped through it. It then sat in his safe since the mid 80s. The second owner never shot it. Lucky me http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif So, how do I know if these 11 mags are going to work in this gun? 2 of the mags are still NIW. I realize I will probably need to post pics/Manufac. names when I receive them. Thanks for the welcome!
