1928 Vertical Grip

Recommended Posts

David, Mike Hammer et al who have admin rights... Recommend you distill this seller's info and basic facts and make a pinned refererence with example photos on the SCAMMERS BEWARE, and post his FAKES (photo examples) on the known Repro reference guide.. Include his ebay and gunbroker info so folks will know who they are dealing with. Also would make a good example to add to your slide show.

Well done Gents. Keep up the good work.

Another Vertical Grip for sale on Ebay, may be a orginial? seller has good feedbacks.

It's the exact same grip as the GB auction, he must be having his friend sell it for him

Hey folks, it's a small world as I'm talking to the same Italian on warrelics.eu. He's trying to sell me on there but he has stated it is a reproduction and it is 3-d printed.

He is asking for £150 which is way too high for a reproduction. I have just been bidding for one on ebay which has all turned a bit dodgy too. I'm struggling to find a original. If anyone has one for sale will pay a good price. Thanks

The seller above who is selling the lower receiver is the same one who has offered me the grip.. take it he is dodgy. He did asked me to send him cash in an envelope to Poland but we did eventually agree on paypal.

Is that why the 1921 grip is no longer for sale?

I would like to see better pics if you get it!

Yes, he took it off as soon as we agreed a price. I was surprised he took it off before receiving payment though.

I did open a thread asking for advice on it with some photos http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21767

My Bad - I said "grip" but I meant the "Frame". Did you get the frame from him too? That is what I wanted to see more pictures of! Thanks!

Ha.. no, I only agreed to buy the grip, which I'm having doubts about now. :-)

Although the grip is certainly well-used and worn it appears to be an original Savage grip. Some fresh stain or oil also may have been used to spruce it up, but that doesn't mean it is a fake. I have refrained from commenting on this thread., but I am of the opinion, "let the buyer beware", there are no guarantees that auction items on eBay or Gunbroker are originals. Do your homework and learn how to spot a genuine grip if you want one badly enough. The most scathing comments seem to come from members that aren't sure if these grips are real or not.

The people that spend hundreds of dollars on obvious reproduction items from Europe should be mad at themselves for not doing the proper research before spending their hard-earned money on something they aren't sure about.

Just found this topic today, I'm impressed to learn that fake grips could be so close for my novice eyes

I could have bought one of those grips without suspicion.

may I ask here if the vertical fore grip on my 1928 (not A1) is original or one of those fakes ?

please note : I have no commercial intentions, just like to know what I have !

Speaking as a novice myself I would say it looks good, I wouldn't say no to purchasing it if I came across it.

Paul,

Your grip is an early Savage made grip. Correct for a 1928 Model Savage made gun.
