Sometimes it seems like you just can't win! When Madalon died, I had no way
of making changes to my website, www.ThompsonSMG.com. After getting help to
access my website, I made a lot of changes. I thought I would be able to
continue maintaining the website but then my vision deteriorate even
further. I am not at this time capable of doing that. Hopefully, when I
get back to my home in Belize where I have website help, I will be able to
update my site. In the meantime, Bob Bower of Philadelphia Ordnance fame
and long time friend will make postings for me on MGB and GunBroker.com.

Presently, I am working on getting another printing run done of my book,
Thompson Submachine Gun - Workshop Manual. I am making Ultimax receivers as
fast as the help I have makes that possible. Bob has posted ads both here
and GunBroker for my 1921 Colt gun as well as M1 and M1A1 parts kits.

I am still trying to find someone to take over my operation. It would be a
real shame if it all ended with me. A major problem preventing that from
happening was that I am the only one who can decipher all my notes and
sketches. It got even more difficult as my continuingly deteriorating
vision made it increasingly difficult for me to train someone. The solution
is to make Ultimax receiver production to be less and less dependent on me.
I get a lot of calls from people offering to helpe but it is not help I
need - I need someone to take over and get non-hands on help from me. So,
what I am doing is re-writing all the programs to be so self-contained with
prompts and instructions that anyone who knows how to run a VMC and other
shop machines, along with a drawing and sample part, could make an Ultimax
receiver without me being closer that the telephone. I think I can make
this work. On Monday I hope to have completed the re-write of the 2A and MA
(1921 and M1 original configuration) receivers. That would mean that my
machinery could be shipped anywhere and an Ultimax receiver made within 24
hours of the machines being powered up. There will be no need to refer to
any of the engineering or planning that I went through to get to that point
I could even hire someone skilled in using VMCs and have them make the
receivers in my shop at a much higher volume than is possible with the help
I have now.

Do not hesitate picking up the phone and cal;ling me at 310-457-6400 to
discuss any Thompson matter
