Newbie here. I recently acquired a m1918 Winchester with a SN in the 66*** range. After I take possession, and take it to the range, I'll post some pics.

@OCM: I've already waited for the out-of-state inbound portion of my journey, so it shouldn't be that long.

Jim C nailed a GOOD one, be fun for you guys to compare & I have some questions on the weapon-

Historically that is.

Out of state journey.  Class III to Class III I assume.

18 Winchesters rules , not even in IMHO, they rule. WAIT, forgot the Monitor.

Gary- You got pictures of the receiver, both sides, also pictures of the gas cylinder ( regulator) side & front and barrel end . Top of the gun would be nice too, with SN and all, unless you don't feel comfortable showing the SN.

Even if these are " sales" picture before you receive the gun.

Lucky guy-

Sorry to be away for so long... just still waiting. Shouldn’t be too long from now. I’d rather present my own photos since the seller’s aren’t great.

Also have a Thompson Colt Navy & Savage M1A1 coming... the wait is so painful, as you all know.

Can't wait for the pictures to come. It will be well worth the wait in the end.

One thing about the wait. Afetr you get it and look back, it doesn't seem like it was a long wait at all. Enjoy the journey and not the destination :)

It's always nice to have something to look forward to.

Yes, still waiting. I noticed on NFATracker that some Jan. applications have been approved. Curious.

Gary,

Congratulations, I  was hoping you'd get it soon.

I picked up my Colt yesterday.

Spent today stripping it, cleaning and lubing.

Headspace checked out perfect and the rifling is quite nice.

Ready to go to the range.

For frosting on the cake the dealer sold me a case of Greek ammo at a good price.

This weapon, Winchester #66191, has no military marks or date on the barrel. It does have various digits stamped on the gas cylinder and receiver. Anyone know what that means? Ill be digging in tomorrow.

Edit: dont forget Im a newbie here.

Did you buy this rifle on "gunbroker.com" From a doctor in the Akron?Canton Ohio area, for a little over 30 K.

If you did , I have a story to tell.

That’s correct, Jim.

Looks like the barrel and bolt are replacements.  Effectively every part on a Winchester gun has the "W" on it somewhere if you look hard enough. HTH
