Motorcar Posted September 1, 2003 Report Share Posted September 1, 2003 Has anyone in the group of owners tried to have ATF consider the WH 1928 as a curio/relic as of recently? It would seem if only a little over 3,000 total were produced and all prior to the change of law in 1986 it should be considered a collecter item. There are certainly larger quantities of other firearms on the C&R list that ATF approves that don't have the collector value of a West Hurley 28. The prices would seem to indicate that. The listings of C&R guns includes: Thompson, model 1927, semiautomatic carbine, caliber .45 ACP. Thompson, submachineguns including all models, prototypes, & variations actually mfd. in or before 1945. Thompson submachinegun, Model M1, .45 cal., mfd. by Auto Ordnance Corporation, West Hurley, New York, between 1985 and 1986, having S/Ns from M100A to M717A. Thompson, model 1928, Korean War Commemorative submachineguns, cal. .45 produced by Auto Ordnance, West Hurley, NY. Seems the commemoratives are here. Why not the rest?
