giantpanda4
Link: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem....p?Item=41643927 Looks like a M1 bolt in it. Serial number area is definitely ground down http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif - look at the reflections. Of course it could be the Rust-O-Leum paint fooling me. Anyone know anything about this gun?
Roland, Headless Thompson Gunner
I can't wait to see what this one fetches. I'm surprised the finish wasn't described as 90% with only minor flaking. The pistol grip looks nice. So I'll ask, what's the fair pice of this one? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif
Sgt
Under what circumstances would that number be ground off? Since he has papers, the tommy shouldn't be hot, right?
TNKen
Don't know much, but that is one rough gun. My guess on the renumbering is a rewelded receiver??? Ken
cavediver
I wonder if PK could duplicate that finish. It could make my Wh much more valuable Hehe

philasteen
Serial number could have been redonei nm the 68 amnesty, but the ones I've seen had "IRS" prefixes.
TNKen
I e-mailed him asking for the Form 4 manufacturer. He claims Auto Ordnance Bridgeport. Interesting. Ken
philasteen
Despite all the derision as to its cosmetic condition, I bet it shoots well.
JimFromFL
I have not seen that type of finish on a Thompson before (but I am no expert). It almost looks like that black flakey stuff i got on my parts kit that simply scratches right off.
full auto 45
Maybe it is a "replaced" receiver? And he likes YAAHOO chocolatedrink
giantpanda4
Hey! Price check.... It is down to $12.5K! Maybe if I wait a few months it will be below $10K! http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem....p?Item=41889896
full auto 45
Bummer dude! It ended again with no takers. Maybe $10.5 this time. If so, do bid me up. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Roland, Headless Thompson Gunner
Anybody ever get a straight answer on the serial number? Who cares about the Bosco finish, if the price keeps dropping its just another receiver to build on.
azheat99
Looks like the sn is 37550, which would make this an M1 receiver. The bolt could have been replaced with an M1A1 bolt and the receiver would have then been restamped with the A1 designation if it was done as an arsenal rebuild. That part of the receiver is blurred in the pictures. I also don't see any inspector stamps (WB or GHD for AO). These should be on the left side of the receiver which is shown in the pics. Anyone asked what the story is yet?
full auto 45
I've emailed the guy about the stamps. I think I know somebody in Maryland that might just go and look at it for me, uh, us.
