CptCurl
I just noticed that Cowan's has for auction on Oct. 30 Colt No. 91, a 1921A formerly owned by Consolidation Coal Co., and then by the Jenkins, KY police dept. https://www.cowanauctions.com/lot/rare-and-early-model-1921-colt-thompson-sub-machine-gun-3941197 Looks like it could use a good careful cleaning. I think it has seen some use. Cool gun! Curl P.S. There is also a nice Savage 1928A1. https://www.cowanauctions.com/lot/savage-model-1928a1-sub-machine-gun-3946995
TD.
I have examined NO 91 and can say it is a great 2 digit Colt's. Yes, it does have plenty of honest wear but actually presents in-person as a whole a lot better than seen in the MACRO pictures focusing in on any one area. When I saw the initial pictures of NO 91 when this Colt's first surfaced, I thought it was probably a 70% or less Thompson. Not so. NO 91 easily presents as an 80% gun with good wood that would clean up and look much better with one coat of properly applied linseed oil. Cowan's is a well respected Cincinnati auction house. This should be a fun event on Wednesday. Bring your wallet!
Got Uzi
Wish I had the vacation time as Id drive down to watch it sell. This is one Colt that should and will bring good money given its serial number.
Ray Beams
I have the serial number 91 Colt C drum. I bought it from the late Gordon Herigstad in 2013. Ray Boehms
Sig
Well, if what I saw online is correct, it gaveled at $75k, so with 20% Buyer Premium added, that $90k out the door.
lightguy
Stupid money. All of them were "low number" considering.I buy condition if they are all basically the same model. However I dont make the market but just follow it so WTF do I know ?

Arthur Fliegenheimer
Cowan's outstanding photography that captures minute details of #91 confirms the forward stock latch screw is the culprit for all those PD owned Colt TSMGs frame gouges. How and why police armorers managed to torque the screw beyond flush with the top of the latch remains a mystery. Why tamper with the latch screws during routine cleaning at all? colt21a
We have reached the Pinnacle of discussing a lowered screw and a mark to its lower. Is this the greatest forum on Earth or what? I did research and found out the copper who tightened it down to make that mark was sent to The motorcycle squad and had to ride in below 20's temperature with a Thompson in a side car screaming {I will never screw up again ever!} And i regret changing some of those butt stocks around at Vollmers to make them match better.Forbid anybody bought one they will never be right in the head to know they have the wrong stock it left Auto Ord Warehouse Or wait was it Numrich. Everybody have a good 2019 whats left of it.2020 Awaits with a new rise in prices. And Arthur thanks for the keen observation on #91 the well informed a few of us know some get over powering with the darn screwdrivers. And that not just right look for the three sets of Wood. RON K.
full auto 45
The PD said they wanted $75K and nothing less for the gun. Looks like they got it. My dad and his side of the family are from Letcher county. All from right in that part of the county. I'll have to ask if they ever remember any incidents where it was used. My grandfather worked the coal mines in and around Jenkins. Too bad he isn't around to ask about it.

colt21a
Mike was a brawler he would fit in very well with some of us here. Especially those from South Side Chicago. We have to have fun with all this otherwise we would go insane. They did say it correctly in the 1951 "Thing" The Mind Boggles. And you have to love those that tackle the Pivot plate with a good ole sharpened screwdriver. I shudder when i see that damage on some. RON K.
