sten guy
I know refinishing hurts the value , but what would a Navy Overstamp refinished to almost new condition be worth in todays market?? The metal and wood are perfect and to the novice would appear to be a new gun... All internals and wood are correct and the markings are sharp. Arthur Fliegenheimer
Figure a 40% deduction for refinish so approx $15K-$17K?
sten guy
I suppose you can add if you have a documented history??
Arthur Fliegenheimer
It depends on the type of documentation. It is always nice to have a document showing the original purchase of a Colt from Auto-Ord by the customer usually a PD. But unless the gun was associated with some historical event, or owned by some historical figure, the added value would not be very significant. 21 smoker
My 21 is not connected to any historical figure or event, however I take great personal pride in the fact that it was initially purchased by that leftist liberal rag..the New York Daily News in 1921...just makes it that much sweeter!!! Somewhere along the line it has been refinished and I couldn`t care less....I`ll just keep it smokin`...out. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif
John Jr
I bet you cant buy it for 15K. If you can you had sure better. Gun could bring up to 20K, after all its a Navy Overstamp and they are the most valuable ones out there (don't ask me why). 40% is a bit steep, but I would think around 15-20% is more like it. The good ones sell around 25K and usually come with good stuff like cases and drums and mags. Jr

I was there with my son. Your Thompson was obtained by Mr. D and you showed me the Bars (both full-auto and semi) if I remember correctly. I plan on being there for the next show July 4th. If you are there, can I try out your full-auto BAR? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif
