For Sale -- M96 Recon minus bolt -- complete -- like new . . .

Recommended Posts

Bolt finally failed (broke in 1/2) at between 7 ~ 9K rounds after 15+ years of casual shooting.

Carrier is fine, gas system is fine and everything else is fine. (Early "HP" SN with Zero factory modifications).

I will entertain offers on the complete rifle minus functioning bolt but will include that part(s).

PM me here and let's talk if you need a parts gun.

All FFL rules apply - I don't want to part it out - want to sell as a complete unit.

Best!

Steve.

No interest in a parts gun, so,

Off to the woodpile for a good sledgehammer treatment and then into the trash next.

Bbl /gas system is for sale for $400 at this point - you need to speak-up if you want furniture/sights/trigger-parts/pins, etc from it before I get rid of it all.

PM if interested.

Later . . .

Replied-too. (Thanks).

Just for the record - I got an email from RA Tech and they said:

"Steve,

We have some bolts somewhere around here. We are planning this spring to start making some of the M96 Parts, Bolts included. The bolt cannot be repaired but we’ll see if we can find one. You’ve got to send in the broken bolt to get a replacement. The replacement bolt is $125 plus S&H.

Tech"

I returned an email reply asking for an invoice for a replacement bolt so that I could send-in my broken bolt and a check (payment) for a new bolt and have asked them twice in the past week - no response yet.

I'd really be happy if they follow through . . .

They contacted me again and could not locate any bolts so they put me on a waiting list.

I got this same response when I needed a new Op-Rod and have heard nothing since then and I wound-up making tooling for my lathe to fabricate a replacement a year ago and then needed OP-Rod springs and couldn't get them so I designed and had made replacements (from-which I have not yet recovered my manufacturing costs).

Now I am at a dead-end as the bolt is unobtainium from any other source.
