Bill in VA Posted December 3, 2003 Report Share Posted December 3, 2003 Back to the Tannerite... I've used (and shot) quite a bit of it, and it's every bit "as advertised"... lots of smoke and noise. It's relatively stable, and is not classified as an explosive until you mix it. As for .223, each time i've tried, it's been hit or miss (no pun intended.) Sometimes it will light, other times, not. A .308 is will definitely set it off, but as others have said, don't stand too close to it. Give yourself a minimum of 50 yards (we shoot it at a minimum of 100 yards.) Not only can you buy, own, shoot MGs and silencers, you can hunt with them here as well (No, I dont deer hunt with a MG). You can also shoot off all the fireworks you want, and buy them all here. You can get a concealed carry permit. I shoot my Thompson off the back porch all the time. I live 1/2 mile from the city limits. No one cares. If you see my Thompson in the avitar, thats where I do most all of the shooting. I have lots of property here and you can build top of the line here for less than $65 a square foot. (link Skylight Exlposives ) Give them a call, you'll probably speak directly to Dan Tanner (Inventor of Tanerite, and fellow NFA gun nut). According to the website it's 50 state legal. As it's shipped, it's not an explosive, so it can probably be shipped anywhere. Mixing it up and making loud noises (along with having fun in general) might be prohibited in your area. I have been able to knick the targets on the side with both .308 and .223 and not set them off. But, a direct hit in the middle with a .308 or .223 has always been golden. I buy it by the case. It's way better than fireworks. Setting off your first Tanerite target is like shooting a TSMG for the first time. You'll get a big stupid grin on your face, and will be slobering for another target. If we find out which ones do things like this, don't re-elect them or don't vote for them to start. If this happens alot of the ones that make a living off our money and taxes, won't have jobs.
