ron_brock
I thought this was original, but something just seems a little off to me. Maybe it's the weave of the fabric. What are your thoughts. I don't see any markings. Ron
gijive
Ron, It is an original. I have one just like it that came off of a WWII Vet bring-back. It is the original sling with the gun. I don't know the manufacturer of that type sling, but they are pretty scarce. The sling I have was with a February 1943 Inland Carbine.
Gio
Ron, I'm no expert but doing some research the WW11 slings had different weaves. It looks to me to be original. Frank
ron_brock
Thanks guys. It was a $10.00 gun show gamble. Guess I did fine. The way the rust had stained the cloth I was afraid it had been purposely aged. Guess is must have just gotten wet or sat somewhere damp. Didn't seem to effect the cloth. The weave looked different to me, but different manufacturers makes sense. I've seen some really obvious aged fakes, this one didn't seem like that, but also just didn't seem quite right. dalbert
Ron, When I'm home this weekend, I'll compare it to the sling on my Maguire Industries toy Tommy Gun, which has a WWII era, C-tipped sling on it. From memory, I think it's the same weave, but my memory could be wrong. In any case, I think you did very well for a WWII era M1 Carbine C-tipped sling. Gio
Ron, Those stains may be blood not rust. That ought make you feel good. Frank
