AA - Agusta Arsenal BA - Benicia Arsenal MR - Mount Rainier Ordnance Depot RRA - Red River Arsenal RA - Raritan Arsenal SA - Springfield Armory RIA - Rock Island Arsenal (often seen with the initials FK for Frank Krack or EB for Elmer Bjerke, both men were inspection supervisors at Rock Island). britfish Posted November 13, 2003 Author Report Share Posted November 13, 2003 And they were all used by all corps, divisions etc? What Im getting at is say it was issued to the 82nd airbourne. When all the damaged weapons were shipped back to the states did they just randomly go to 1 of the 7 arsenals, or did they go to differing ones, say west coast ones for pacific theatre, east coust for european? It seems to me like you would send 1 back to have it rebuilt then get it back, they must have kept track of who sent what back? Bisley45 Posted November 13, 2003 Report Share Posted November 13, 2003 I belive they were gathered by Division Matince into a great big pile and when there were enough they were sent to the arsonal with the least work. Most were also rebuilt post war and place in storage. the only way you could tell was if someone scratched something into the stock.... Sorry tracing a gun to a unit isn't that easy.
