bob241
My thought on this is that remington being known as a long gun company, and colt being known as a hand gun company, remington may have had better or faster wood turning equipment and bid a price on the wood cheaper than colt could do it in house. I am sure remington had lots of wood left over from WW-1 contracts that they would like to have gotten rid of. I also read somewhere that remington also furnished the barrels for the 2l colts in a simi finished state, they were in 22" lengths, finished only in the Id, colt employees cut the barrels in half, finished the chamber and finished the Od. I may be wrong on this, but I belive I read this in one of the thompson books. Edited November 24, 2015 by bob241
