Loose Rear Sight

Recommended Posts

This subject may have been brought up before, and if so I appologize. I'm having a problem with the rear sight on my '27 Kahr. The screws always loosen when I fire it. Even after only about 20 rounds the four srews have backed out considerably and the sight rattles around. Loc-tite seems to have no effect, and any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

This is a problem that will never be solved until you have someone like PK rivet the sight on to the upper frame. I have used JB weld in the past and it will hold for 1000 or so rounds then the sight comes loose again.

The sight base must have the countersinks re-machined to an angle that will match the screw heads (usually replace the screws with appropriate ones). Epoxy or JB will finish the job.

ZLP,

I tried all these suggestions on my 1927,then finally sent it to PK last spring for the fix he just discussed.I have put about 1500rds. thru it since then without any loosening. Other Board members will tell you,PK does excellent work,is very honest, and his prices are fair.

ZLP,

Rivets - Rivets - Rivets.

PK has done this to mine and, in factory testing ( repeated smacking of the "mutt" Lyman sight in question with a large

rock) it has failed to even give an inch. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

best, Zamm
