C&r And Transferable Differences

Recommended Posts

There area few states that only let C&R MG's be owned. C&R just means it is on teh C&R list, which generally includes guns 50 years old and older, or specialty guns which ATF considers as unlikely to be used in a crime. The whole thing is stupid, really, as no one who goes thru a back ground check, and spends thousands of $$ for a transferable gun, is going to commit a crime with it.

The designation probably came about decades ago, when Colt TSMG's cost $700, and WWII MG's were $75.

A handful of the '28 WH's are in the special category PhilOhio noted. The WWII (1983 vintage)and the Korean War (1984 vintage) but, the last I looked not the Vietnam War (1985 vintage) Commemoratives, and IIRC the .22 cal's are C & R.

Check the ATFE Website for the latest info.

I was going to get one of the Korean War Commemorative '28 WH's and have the gold parts swapped with IMA parts. Then the prices went up.
