Thompsonlover
While waiting for a nice M50 to buy, I thought I would start my Reising collection by picking up this nice M65. It falls within the correct serial number range for possible USMC use. The price was $550. How did I do?
n64atlas
Nice find. Getting harder to find the USMC contract M65's

johnsonlmg41
Looks nice. That's the same finish you'll be looking for on a model 50, so now you have a benchmark. I don't follow pricing any more since I picked one up a few years ago, but none of this stuff is cheap....relatively speaking.

n64atlas
It's not real clear on the pics, but the stock looks like the forarm might have been shaved down. The reinforcing bolts look to be too close to the bottom side of the stock

The reinforcing bolts look to be too close to the bottom side of the stock I tend to agree with Howard from this picture, but it very well could be the lighting. It appears thinner and flatter than normal on the front. You're getting an original Reising sling with it, which is worth at least $100. I think you did well, regardless. It's almost certainly a USMC Model 65. David Albertdalbert@sturmgewehr.com
Thompsonlover
Thanks guys. I'll looked at some other pictures from the auction and lighting makes the stock look thinner. Edited August 6, 2019 by Thompsonlover
n64atlas
That looks correct! Glad it isn't altered. The other pic did make it look bad. My first M65 has a serial number close to yours.mine is in the 1300 serial number range. I will have to dig it out to get the exact number.
