I was wondering who made these uppers for the Mac 10 45 acp. I picked up this early Powder Springs M 10 and this was part of the package, Thanks for any info about the upper. It functions great and gives you a nice grip on the forward end.
Mac 10 Carbine Upper

The upper was most likely made by RPB mfg. The lower is a preauction PS. The bolt is early. The take down pin is a type B original. All good to go.

The slotted shroud carbine uppers set up for attaching the M3 Carbine flash hider are generally pre RPB
look around online and see what you can find on the RPB SACs, Semi Auto Carbines
there were around a total of 200 made, the lowers have a SAC pre fixed SAC serial number
some have welded in place fixed stocks, others push button release. Pretty sure the run was in either 81' or 82'
They are found in various configurations
my opinion is that some Carbine upper such as yours were made up from leftover Powder Springs bits
the PS carbines incorporated a Williams ramp base with a 3/8" dovetail with no receiver mounted front sight
A friend has an RPB SAC new in the box
his has a holed shroud, completely different from the slotted pattern. No ability to fit up the M3 FS either and a hood front sight in .45
the 9mms were again, well different in my experience
My best guess is yours is early RPB as the sight is on the upper but it's still slotted, M3 FS with the old school wood forend
