27a To 28 Frame Conversion

Recommended Posts

With the supplies of NAC 28 frames depleted, there has been much concern from those owners of 27a series semi auto guns wanting to enjoy the benefits of the detachable stock inherent to the 21/28 design.

I am finishing up some conversions and decided to post some photos (which would not be possible without the help of Trooper http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Anderson) so you could be aware of what is possible with the 27a frame. I did this conversion for the first time in the late ‘70s and it has proven to be very satisfying.

The comparison photo shows a stock 27a frame, a converted 27a frame and a 28 frame, top to bottom. It should be noted that the converted 27a frame is not re-finished as yet (this one will be parkerized) and that it has been machined for the FA pivot and marked as a 28 would be. The pivot will be modified and used in the manual bolt lock conversion.

While the part cannot be made exactly to print because of features in the 27a style that must be removed to effect the change, these variances are cosmetic only and complete interchangeability with mil-spec stock slides is assured.

PK,

You will make a fortune with this idea. I only hope you can keep up with the demand!

How much will the conversion and refinshing cost?
