Trigger Spring Question

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased 2 Thompson Trigger Springs from different vendors. Guessing either one is compressed or the other is stretched. Both are 6 coils.

Question, does it matter? Would I want to stretch the compressed one prior to installing or is this a mute point?

Yes, found the schematic on NFA toys. Thanks for those pointers. The longer spring is the one within specifications for future readers of this post. As bob241 mentioned above, .82 and 6 1/2 coils.

Wondering how the short one become so compressed? Perhaps a used spring? In the high resolution photo I took, it does not show any wear on the ends of the spring, nothing shiny and nothing flattened or even scratched. Just another one of the great mysteries of the world I suppose like the sock that always disappears in the washing machine.

It might have been heated - think Dewat of Demill - at one time. In another gun, of course.
