10/22Hunter Posted October 26, 2015 Report Share Posted October 26, 2015 Why do think it's so tricky finding a good Norrell 10/22 trigger pack and bolt? I'm on the search and not getting lucky yet. Passed on two second rate ones that were overpriced. I know quite a few were made pre 86, I think collectors are hoarding? Let me know if you have one, I'm a buyer if nice condition and fair priced. I have communicated with him via email and he has been more than generous with his time and information, but no packs. He will repair them, but that's it, he does other gun work now, mostly explained on his website. I'll keep looking for a transferable pack or transferable receiver. tnhog Posted November 8, 2015 Report Share Posted November 8, 2015 John Norrell in Little Rock, Ark. is a great guy. He recently went thru my trigger pack. I had broken a hammer spring. Also had him make a spare antibounce bolt and plunger. The registered NFA part on the Ruger 10/22 is the S&H sear. I think around 2000-2500 were done by Curtis Higgins from Oklahoma. Most were purchased by John and used in his trigger pack design but some sears were purchase by other gunsmiths whose conversions closely copied Norrell's design on the trigger pack. The good news is the sear is the NFA part and not the trigger pack. So, if trigger pack wears out ,spring breaks etc, John can rebuild or make from scratch. The sear is not likely to "wear out". The NFA form should read the legal part as " S&H Sear". So, I wouldn't let some wear on the trigger pack worry me at all as long as it's the S&H sear conversion. I'm assuming he still does that? He may be out of registered sears but if you have a RR he can still make the whole unit from scratch in install it in a RR. I have one set up like that and there were several people that registered the receivers. 10/22Hunter Posted November 24, 2015 Author Report Share Posted November 24, 2015 That's true, but we were thinking we could have 2 or 3 different setups for the gun since they are so cheap to build and it would be a hoot to swap the pack between them for kicks. With a reg receiver, gun, that is more work. Besides, John is such a nice guy and good at what he did, and does, I wanted to stay with his product. So you could turn it into a full auto gun with a Norrell 10/22 trigger pack and bolt? Now that would be fun. I'd be interested in seeing some examples if anyone has any pictures or videos. I have never seen a total production number of how many transferable 10/22 Sears are out there but I don't think it's more than a few hundred.??? John Norrell did most of them and his are known as the most reliable so his are the sought after ones. Plus he is still in business so you could have it serviced if needed. So, Norrell bought the Sears and put them in the trigger packs and made them run right. The important part. So, fast forward to today. All you need is to find a pack and bolt (bolt modified by Norrell to make it run right) and it is a simple drop in on any 10/22 for full auto .22 fun. The cool part is the sear is the MG according to ATF so you can pop your sear pack in and out of any host you have in 2 minutes, so, since 10/22 are cheap guns, you can have several different configuration hosts. Of course, it is an NFA item so you have to do all the att paperwork. And naturally, they are expensive and kinda hard to find. Basically the gun is only worth a couple hundred, you are paying all the money for the trigger pack with sear.... and the ATF paper that come with it saying its legal. $50 part, $19,000 piece of paper. What's so cool about these is you can get or build any 10/22 host gun in any config you like and in 2 minutes swap the trigger pack around in them for fun. My trigger pack should be released form atf jail within weeks. I've got 4 diff hosts waiting to try it out. Good luck, email me directly if you need more help as I rarely check this forum. I believe it's because other center fire SMG calibers like 9, 45, 556, 308, etc. have gotten so expensive at .40-$1 per round. Makes cci mini mags at .11 seem cheap! Thus the demand for a cheaper fun way to shoot full auto. Plus the 10/22 is SO customizable you can build FOUR diff setup hosts for $1500. How fun is that? So my Norrell pack is still in jail, but my hosts are built except for the last NFA item until any form1s come back. All my stuff should be approved a few weeks if the estimated times are right. geefal Posted May 10, 2016 Report Share Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) I am not sure I would be wanting to pay that for one, but then again I purchased mine two years ago at the princely sum of $6000. I have to say though, mine will be the last smg I will sell out of all of them. With the advent of the GSG 110 rd drum it is just an absolute bucket of fun with a side order of giggles. Plus it is very stealth. Every one freaks on an Uzi or an MP5 in the truck, a 10/22, well, everyone has one of those. Plus, unlike the ar15 .22 kits, this one is accurate enough I can go out and shoot ground squirrels or rabbits with it. To me, I can not see paying the prices that they (all machineguns nowadays) bring, but I come from an earlier era and the last hk sear I bought cost $2000 (the first was $600). Sold an Uzi not to long ago for $6500. Just couldn't imagine they would EVER be over $9,000 or maybe $10,000 tops. Fat lot I know about that. Just kinda learned to accept that people have way more money to spend on this stuff than I do and am just glad I got what I got when I got it. Course, some of the pricing is artificially inflated by some dealers who if you watch their site, it seems to have price updates on it like Windows updates its OS. Watched a FNFAL he has had for 2 years, every six months or so that it sits there the price goes up on it 15% or so. Only business I know of that says "if it is priced to high to sell, sure cure to fix that is to raise the price." But. It seems to work as people buy from him. Never thought I would see $30000 MP5's. Never thought I would see $30,000 M16's. And on and on. So yeah, someday these will be $20,000 and am willing to bet dollars to doughnuts it happens within the next couple of years. Its all nuts I think, but maybe that's just because I can not afford it. Have to keep reminding myself that for some people, to spend $20,000 for one of these toys is no different than me spending $5 on a box of shells.... 10/22Hunter Posted June 21, 2016 Author Report Share Posted June 21, 2016 Bought this 6 months ago. Just got my stamp back. So I built the gun and popped in my new Norrell trigger pack. The gun is a 10/22 receiver, custom 5 inch barrel with Norrell .22 suppressor. Aftermarket stock made it all come together. Shot it Friday night for the first time. Wow, what a blast! Here's a clip.
