Buttstock 1928

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was passing thru a small Wisconsin town after getting a bite to eat and on the side of the road was a sign "Gunshow." So I figured a few hunting rifles and decoys but I had some time to burn. So I stopped, and WOW! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif 4- Thompson M-1's, one with a Lyman sight!!!! -real one. A 3/4 size Thompson with a drum cal.22 no markings. A WH thompson large serial numbers 3xxxxx. but has a military actuator-$16,000.

He aso had others about 7-8 folding tables of treasures. I was in ahh. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif I bought a nice complete stock Thompson which for $75. had all the goodies on it , however this is my dilimma I can't get the large buttstock screw out. I tryed with a visegrip clamped on the screwdriver for leverage to no avail. and now the srew head is chipping, so it not a slot but a valley for the screwhead. I didn't really care for the buttstock wood and to refinish it I need the plate off anyways,- so I need if off! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

I'd like to meet the superman who put this in http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif (so I can have him get it out!!!!) or maybe its what I figured that he put it in b4 the varnish dryed. Any ideas-adlake

If you don't care for the butt stock, cut away the wood from the screw, the wood is the least valuable part of the set. $75 for a slide assembly and butt plates a good deal! As another option, the screw is not particularly expensive either or hard to replace. Drill it out or take the dremil tool to it just don't touch the butt plate.
